Brain teaser

I have my last small piece of straight grained Yew. It is 1 3/4" wide by 15" long.(Black lines) I want to cut two tapered pieces for levers on my next Molle. I want them to have even runout on both sides. The narrow end(A) is 1/2". The wide end(B) I want to be as wide as possible. How do I lay that out? It seems like it should be easy and maybe I'm suffering from brain fade but I'm stumped. I can get close but no cigar. Ideas?

Simple bud, measure .5 on the top from right to left, and .5 on tje bottom from left to right. Make a diagonal line connecting the two marks and make your cut. Now, the ends wont be square, so, square them up. Dont worry about the grain run out being only on one side. It doesnt matter, the same amount of grain is gping to run out, be it between both sides or just one.

That's the easy way. Try it with equal grain runout on either side ;D

layout points
1/4" cut off, 1/2' narrow end, 1" wide end layed out across top
1" wide end, 1/2" narrow end, 1'4" cut off layed out across bottom
draw straight lines between the points

Is there a formula for figuring that out or did you just wiggle things around until it worked?

A=1/2"
B- has that same half inch in its center plus two unknown dimensions. One on each side of the half inch center 
total width is 1-3/4"

So 1-3/4" - (2X1/2") = 3/4"
Three equal spaces are needed besides the (2) 1/2" spaces so divide the remaining  3/4" by 3 which = 1/4"

conclusion
A= 1/2"
b= 1/2" + 1/4" + 1/4"
1/4"= distance from edge of board to A
