My First Stone Axe
« on: August 26, 2019, 09:10:12 pm »
First post with all you talented guys & gals. I've been lurking in  the shadows observing, so here it goes.

I found this stone on a bridge job I was working on here in OK. It called to me to make it into a tool. I pecked and ground dry & wet with a broken grind stone. Never did anything like this before, it takes patience. John

I'll be out of town on another job in Arkansas this week. See you all in a few days. John

Very cool John. Your plenty talented enough to share your stuff with us though. I've seen stuff you posted on LW and it's really nice.

Thank you guys, Been knapping on and off for years after taking a day seminar at the Chippewa Nature Center back in Michigan. It wasn't till I moved out west and started studying other knapper's work, ancient and new. Took another class in AZ. with Jon Boyd at the Superstition Mtn. Museum. Now trying to refine the trade/skill. John

John I'd say you learned well. I've seen some really nice stuff you've done on Leather Wall. No reason not to share it here.

PS don't forget to post your axe when you get it all done with a handle on.
