46" Osage paddle bow From Kyle ( Mo_Coon-Catcher)
« on: October 18, 2019, 07:59:29 am »
Good Day everyone, I wanted to start a new post to show off the trade bow I recently received from Kyle in the 2019 PA bow trade. I got home one evening to find a surprisingly short package sitting on my porch which instantly got my wheels turning of exactly what might be contained inside. Inside I found a true treasure of a bow that I was lucky enough to receive.

I will give the specs, but the pictures do the true justice of what this little bow truly is. I have always wanted a paddle bow but have never taken the time to really dive into the particular aspects of building one. Luckily I now have one of the nicest paddle bows I have ever seen!

46" ntn Osage paddle bow, 1 3/4" wide at the handle with roughly 2 1/2" wide limbs with nice recurved tips.
The bow holds 1 3/4" reflex and draws 60# @ 26". The grip is birch bark and squirrel rawhide.

Apon shooting the bow I was instantly blown away with many aspects of it. The draw is smooth and powerful and the bow launches an arrow with authority. Hand shock is nonexistent with really impressed me coming from a short bendy handle bow. Everything about the bow just has me impressed. It is so compact and easy to shoot from any position. This bow has taken away all stereotypes I had of short bows and has me really re-thinking what is possible with a short bow.

Kyle, you did a great job and you are a true craftsman. Hats off to you buddy for such a nice bow, I really appreciate it!

I hope everyone else will soon be enjoying their new trade bows as well.
Cheers,
Taylor

I have shot that bow myself and must say, you will probably never shoot a better crafted paddle bow. Kyle makes a top notch bow. Your praise of it is spot on.

You are lucky too... cause I tried to talk him out of that bow. If I could have, I would have.

What an awesome little bow.  Not something you see very often.
Goes to show what can be done with the right skill set.  46", 60lbs and still maintaining reflex.  Excellent job Kyle!

I got to shoot that bow also, and it does launch an arrow...even at whatever short draw I was able to get!  Definitely 60# is a bit stout for me.  You are lucky to have such a unique, highly functional work of art!

Wow!! I had no idea that paddle bows could be so elegantly powerful!  And it's aesthetically gorgeous too!

that is cool...and about the opposite of the typical long and heavy bows he usually makes... very nice.
