In one picture the humpy limb looks to have a delaminatin between growth rings.
If so, how did you take care about this.

It looks more worriesome than it turned out to be. there is no physical separation, just some discolored wood. It's just as solid as the surrounding wood. I soaked it with superglue just in case and then carried on. It hasn't shown any sign of acting differently.

Can't hurt to have an extra function for survival purposes. It can double as a kayak paddle in a pinch.
