Lever for clamping the bow with rope
« on: November 30, 2019, 11:35:21 am »
It's called sonimok. I have seen it in a documentary: https://youtu.be/cicYRzWss74. At 10:05 it is used. Can I find a description of it somewhere? Couldn't ask on AtarnNet because it's abandoned by users.

They are very simple to make and there is no need to think you must copy this one exactly.
Simply start by carving the concavity for the bow limb. Once that is shaped then make a shallow groove for the rope to run in that coils around the 'head'and  onto the shaft.
when using it don't exert too much pressure as a lot of pressure also makes the parts twist. You can clamp both tips to try and stop this but notice the man in the video doesn't actually exert much force. This is the trick with this tool.

Dang!  I need one of these right now!  I have to wrap sisal rope on three of our bird's bow perches and I can never pull the rope tight enough to keep it from slipping loose eventually.
