this weekend's knappin
« on: April 27, 2008, 10:45:54 pm »
here's how i amused myself this weekend.  some various styles and materials.
all done with abo tools. an elk antler billet, an elk antler flaker, and a metamorphic hammerstone for a couple hard spots
the black blade is dacite (very very sharp!)
the clear one is tv screen glass.
the small one with the orange blotch is flint ridge
and the other 2 are texas chert.
thanks for looking. all products of my newly acquired elk antler billets and flakers from wolf watcher. thanks again-  Ryan

Looks like you were busy. They look real good.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Progress might have been all right once but it's gone on for far too long.

thanks,  bowmo- the tip of the right thumb from depressing the flaker and my left thumb joint from hyper extending it...repeatedly...lol   oh yeah and my leg, i knap on my leg not in the air.
i have worked up a resilient leg muscle, but after a weekend of wailing, its a little sensative, but all will be ok after a good nights sleep.   ya know, i remember when i had just started, i had some softball sized bruises on both legs just after 1-2 heads!  glad those days are done

The points look great TL.  Sounds like a good time of enjoying a little time on a bench under a good shade tree.  ;)

Was it a flat screen?   ::)  I guess the possibilities are endless.  When I was brush hoggin' my fence line I came across a HUGE electrical insulator that the utility company left when they switched out poles some time ago.  I think I'll give that a shot.
