I hope you find some good timber that will work for you. My hat is truly off to you guys that don’t have readily available known good bow woods. That y’all press through the lack of materials and maintain your desire to build is impressive. I can not be outside without seeing good bow trees (whitewood) and that is what fuels my want to make bows. I see a tree and immediately think of how many staves are in it.

maybe you can find some kind of alder
I made a bow out of alnus nigra sapling and it was pretty good

Welcome. +3 serviceberry/Saskatoon.  I'm working on a birch sapling just sawed out not split.  I'll keep you posted.  Good luck and it's ok to break a few practicing.
