What designs work well for cedar? I'm looking to making a shorter bow with short drawlength. any ideas?

I’d do a western California style bow

What kind of cedar? Eastern Red Cedar or Western Red Cedar?
Guts suggestion sounds pretty good for ERC.
In the newest PA Magazine(just got mine today) Mike Yancy has a nice sinew backed ERC he made with mostly sapwood. Only heartwood is in the handle.

it was ERC.. clean stave .. did not remove sapwood... no sense in it since I sinew backed it.. only heartwood on bow is a piece on handle..so it is really an all sapwood bow..bow is really a nice shooting bow... quick and feather light in hand... gut

I've found all sapwood juniper bows have the least issues. I've also found they shoot a little faster in my experience.

gonna be an eastern red cedar. Do you think having some knots will be an issue? the cedars in ny can be pretty knotty

they could be an issue .. depends on where they fall on design... my stave was clean.. fairly rare.. but not impossible to find... if you can lay knots out in handle or fade would be ideal.. as long as not punky..... gut
