Dang... looks like I best stop messing around with pelts and get back in the woodshop! I don't know what to do about my humidity problem... maybe I'm going to have to build a proper hot box..

What about your solar kiln, how well does it work? how do you build one?

The solar kiln works alright.. it gets up to around 140 degrees on a hot sunny day, but there's not any airflow... I might be able to do something to get it to work a bit better. It does a pretty good job though when the weather is right... The problem is, is that the weather has to be right ;D

Had to travel for a couple of weeks, so I took the opportunity to apply rawhide to the back of my crepe myrtle bow so it could cure while I was away.  I put it in the basement by a dehumidifier and it dried out nicely.  Got her bandages off today and on to final tillering.  (I left some wiggle-room weight in case the backing changed the tiller.)  The backing came out pretty well — better than my previous attempts, anyway.

This white wood is begging for a dye job, so I think I’ll oblige.

Went to a small estate in mid Wales today, came back with 2 yew staves and 1 of box (buxus semp).  Better, the small yew (57" length) was cut in December and hung up in the tree, so off the ground.  Could make a wicked D-bow.  Plan c is sorted then.

Got the bow finished up. Shoots great! Holds about 1/2" of reflex.

So guys another month has gone by. We’ve had some good progress and some promises for pictures, some fulfilled and others not. Some really nice bows coming out from what I’ve seen though! Either way I wanted to post a list of finished bows that have been posted. So far we have finished bows from myself, Flntknp17, Mafort, simk, jake snyder, and pasteve. But I haven’t seen flntknp17 or Mafort’s bow pics posted though but I have put my hands on flntknp17’s trade bow so I know it exists! Is there anyone else that is finished? Secondly, how are the reserve bows coming? We’ve got Deerhunter21, mafort, and TimothyR doing reserves and I’m hoping we can get a trade going with the reserves as well, especially for Deerhunter21 as he’s only building a reserve. Keep up the great work guys!

Mine is drying out for the next week and a half, and then I will seal it and shoot it in.

Okay, I heat treated, straightened, and added 2" of reflex to my second bow, we'll see if I like this bow better than the first walnut one, which I think is awesome but a little underweight. this hickory piece is promising, we'll see how it turns out :)

I'm calling her done.  64" rawhide-backed crape myrtle 3-piece takedown with a mahogany into black dye job, purpleheart overlays, goatskin handle wrap, triggerfish skin strike plate.  As I expected with this wood, it took a wee bit of set, but I mostly offset that with some gently flipped tips.  40# @ 24".  (Please excuse my form; I can’t do lefty worth a dang.)

That is stunning stickhead! I’ll mark you ready and as we get closer to the deadline I’ll assess where everyone is and start making the shipping calls.

Sneak peek, osage and bamboo. I'm still working g on several bows but for now this is probably going to be the one.

Plan c is becoming plan a. Really like this stick.

Two or three heat treatments in, deflexed is down to 2 inches from 4, thickness is 21mm all through.  I think I'll start reducing thickness next it'll make the next heat corrections easier
