Tomahawk
« on: February 27, 2022, 09:03:32 pm »
Hello! I'm a bladesmith/blacksmith from Northwestern Colorado. I competed on the show Forged in Fire some time back on the history channel. That episode is season 7 episode 31. Here's a tomahawk I had the honor of displaying in BLADE magazine. The head is mild steel with a 1075 carbon bit with curly maple, pewter and brass. If anyone would be interested in a build along for something like this I'd be happy to do one on here! Big fan of this forum and primitive archery and have been an archer for most of my life. Unfortunately I'm a lot better at bending metal than wood so I'll probably stay in this section mostly 😁

Thanks for lookin folks!
Jarrod

Beautiful  hawk, Jarrod and welcome to PA. I'm sure a build along would be appreciated by all.

I often watch this series with my wife on German TV, but missed this. Or it wasn`t broadcasted until now. Fine work!

That looks really great!

I have been wondering what that bone pin is for on top with those…just ornamental?

Beautiful work and welcome to PA.

Parnell the piece on top is to plug the handle as the hole for the pipe runs the length of the handle. This allows you to clean the "stem" with pipe cleaners. Sometimes people put little picks on them for cleaning but I just leave it as a fancy plug.
