Offering whitetail back sinew
« on: December 09, 2021, 06:13:56 pm »
Hi folks. I have whitetail back sinew on offer, as I typically do at this time of year. I get the raw tendons from a game processor who is a friend of mine. I meticulously scrape the meat, fat, and membrane off both sides, then soak in several changes of warm water to remove all grease and residual blood before letting the tendons dry on metal cookie sheets. The result is dried whitetail back sinew that is incredibly clean and very easy to separate into individual fibers for all of your primitive crafting needs. All of the tendons I cleaned up this year are at least 15 inches long, and I have lots that are over 20 inches. I am open to all sorts of trades, including stone points, arrow shafting material, staves, buckskin, and other things too. PM me if you are in need of any sinew and want to talk trade. I can offer both whole, unprocessed tendons as well as processed sinew.

I’d be interested in some sinew if still have some left.  My supply is lower this year from a few projects.  Would you rather I send you a pm?

Eric's sinew is super clean and ready to use.  You won't regret making a trade for it.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

Dammit SON!!!  I seriously hesitated before making this post, but I'm making it because it is the right thing to do.  If I did not have a great relationship with a processor and didn't have access to a gracious plenty elk and deer sinew, I probably wouldn't make this post despite it being the right thing to do, because I would be working hard to hoard this resource!

I was too busy/lazy to get the buckets/containers my processor asked me to bring to him for collection and storage of the sinew I wanted him to save for me, so I didn't get any from him this year.  I need some to re-do my trade bow for MO Coon Catcher and for other bows, so I decided to acquire some from Eric.

I can not overstate just how premium this sinew is.  The sinew I used for my own hunting bow was sinew from my processor, and because it was for my bow, I worked it really well to get it as perfectly clean and flawless as possible before using it.  Eric's sinew absolutely shames what I was able to produce.

I just received it, and I have not worked any of it, but I can tell you with 100% confidence that this will be the easiest sinew to get prepared for laying it down on a bows back.  I'll spend 1/2 the time shredding this into bundles than the time I spent preparing the sinew I used on my hunting bow.

This is some premium, beautiful sinew.  Thank you Eric!  Fantastic stuff!

Oh...Let me add this.  I have purchased unprocessed and processed sinew from several online resources when I first started making bows, and this sinew is far, far superior to the best of what I received from those resources.  Not even close.
