Osage longbow with glue up handle
« on: January 22, 2023, 01:13:20 pm »
Had a 10-year-old stave sitting around from Osage outlaw. Not much meat to it but I was able to find a slat about 1 and 1/4 by 3/4 by 68 in Long. Lots of heat for correction on this one. Handle is hickory, purple heart, wenge. Ended up 65.5 NTN and 47 @28. Thanks for looking

Before sideways heat correction. Damn near 4 in of sideways straightening

Doesn't take much Osage to make a good bow when you know what your doing. Excellent job with that crooked stick. I like the built up handle too.

Nicely done with that one.    Very unique handle.  Very cool.

Glad you wrestled a sweet bow out of that stave.  You will have to make another trip down when I cut some more.

Think I might have the brother and sister to that stave Paul.

Nice job coaxing that bow out of that stave. Really is amazing how much Osage can be corrected and hold the correction.

Holding nice reflex in the unbraced pic. Takes some skill on a piece that narrow.
