Take Down Sets Anyone?
« on: July 28, 2023, 08:32:55 pm »
I just figured out how to source the material and fabricate standard take-down sleeve sets.  I would have to make them a few at a time to be worthwhile, however, so I thought I would gauge interest here. Would anyone want to trade for one or more if I made a batch?  I would be interested in deer antlers, broadheads, arrow shafts, etc.  I'd offer them for well under the equivalent of the price of a standard takedown set.

Regards,

With the cost of shipping full length staves, I think take downs are gonna get VERY popular! Sending a P.M.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Would these be the steel and brass sleeves? Round or D-shaped? And what dimensions? I might be interested.

These would be 4" long, oval shaped 1 1/8" wide, and a little over 1 1/2" deep.  I could do steel-brass or steel-steel, but the steel-steel would be a fair bit cheaper.

Here are some steel-steel sleeves.
I'll be sending out PMs shortly to finish trade details.

They turned out great.  I am really impressed by how nicely they slide together,  much better than my first go-round with a commercial set actually.

Because these are all steel, the small side may not be as pretty as a brass equivalent, but I've found that a runover with sandpaper makes it look nice.

I will be doing a second run shortly and I expect to have one or two extra, so let me know if you are interested.

I received a set of sleeves in the mail today. Am very pleased with how they fit together. They are a heavier gauge steel than any of the steel/ brass sets I have purchased in the past. I also think I am going to like the full oval shape.

So glad you like it, please post photos of the bow when it's done!

I also received your package; I am quite happy with it.
