Osage recurve with copperheads
« on: March 18, 2024, 12:29:14 am »
Here is a bow I finished up a couple months ago. It’s around 63” TTT and approximately 1 5/8” wide at its widest. It draws 60# at 28”. The tips were flipped with dry heat. It’s got enough snake to be interesting, yet achievable. The string alignment was interesting - the tips were significantly off in opposite directions but the end result was that the nocking point is near center shot and the string moves away from the wrist at the handle. The stave came from someone in Lewiston ID who used to work with Clay Hayes - he got it from him but never ponied up and built a bow. The handle wrap is buckskin from a Manitoba whitetail my dad harvested when I was a kid. And the copperheads came from Texas in a trade with backwoodsguy. Love this bow - it’s my new go to hunting bow and is a great shooter. My best to date.

We might call you kidder, but when you make a bow you sure as all get-out ain't kidding around! Been a fan of your work for years and this one is no disappointment! She's all good.

Love it kidder. You nailed that one. Backwoods guy has some very nice copper heads. They look great on Osage.

That bow would make anything look good.

Thanks for the kind words fellas. I forgot to mention that there is a mineral streak down the middle of the stave from top tip to just below the handle. Made it easy to lay out the bow and shows through the skins kinda cool.
