Very satisfying building something like that.

And just in time for Mothers Day.

Looks like a nice straight piece of Osage.

Thanks gentlemen. I had built one about twice that size 2 years ago and I pretty much took it over. She never really complained but did mention that I had done so. I promised her Iíd build her one. Motherís Day was the target date, missed it buy about a week Bj. Now I can get her few things out of mine and get back to bow making. Glad itís done. Itís time and money well spent. And she loves it. She already told me I canít put anything in it. Now I can get back to finishing my trade bow.

Actually that stave was harvested last September. It had been stored with the bark on and I decided to take the bark off and store it. Iíve got 1 or 2 more staves to debark, also have 3or4 billets that need the bark removed. I did spray the bark with a pesticide and didnít see any issues with insects but I didnít want to chance it. I do have a couple bows in the works I hope to finish up soon. Hopefully youíll see them in the junior bow trade. That stave might be okay itís got a little bit of a funny shape but itís pretty much knot free. Rings are nice on one side and get thinner as they go from one side to the other.. worse case Iíll have to back it with something..
