They are certainly cute little things. Apparently they taste pretty much like other venison, their meat can be bought in the UK from specialist dealers.
The females can start to breed at just 7 months old and unlike the native red, roe and fallow deer they breed all year round. The males have short unbranched antlers and prominent canine teeth, which they use when fighting other males. They are steadily becoming more common, the first time I ever saw one was about twenty years ago but now I see them very regularly.
