black locust shoots
« on: July 10, 2008, 01:02:38 am »
the house next door to me has a huge b.l. tree,i noticed some b.l. shootsgrowing arounf it. they are about 4 ft tall and about 5/8ths of an inch at the base.

i know b.l. is supposed to be a good bow wood, was just wondering if the shoots would make decent arrows and has anybody ever tried them?

I've made a few arrows from locust shoots-not as good as sourwood or viburnum, but thay make pretty good arrows.

Progress might have been all right once but it's gone on for far too long.

I have cut and dried BL shoots for arrows but have not yet tried them. Others here have.     Pat
