Alexacarrie Plantation.
« on: September 21, 2008, 05:48:24 pm »
Back in June when Hillbilly, Mechlesher and I went to Ga for our hog hunt. Tim Beach the owner showed us where the natives had been quarrying rock. Steve and I loaded up some to try to make a point for Tim's arrowhead collection that is on the walls of the "hunting cabin". I had a lot of trouble with this chert. But this is what I ended up with.

Nice point Eddie! Cool point, that does look like some tough stuff. Bet with a little heat those orange spots would turn red - how much did ya say you had? ::) ;D.

Paul, I only brought back two pieces. I think Steve got more than me. I wasn't impressed with the stuff so I just got enough to make a point ,hopefully.  That point  is heat treated.  Thanks David.

Eddie, that looks great! I've got a couple bifaced out, need to cook'em before I finish them up-that stuff is like concrete raw. I noticed that most of the chips we found down there are heat-treated. I got several pieces, but most of it is junk-seams, inclusions and stuff. But I think I've got a couple solid pieces that will make points.

Steve, I didn't get very many useable pieces out of what I brought home.I had a lot of trouble heating it also. The bifaces and flakes kept cracking into.
