make charcoal ?

i split a large locus log only to find it twisted ihave a burn barrel with a lid just not quite sure how to proceed. has anyone tried bbq. with it , looks like large relative of mesquite to me what do you guys think? ???

Youtube has some good videos on making charcoal.  As far as bbq....it should be fine...just let it burn down to coals first (don't use the smoke).
