What i did is i drew my plans on a piece of paper then drew the thickness and the width and all that stuff on the bow, got my bench plane, planed it down to my desired thickness what was kept slightly above the final thickness got a scraper and sandaper and d shaped it. Then I tillered it and put on horn nocks, in the beginning i had trouble pulling it back but now im handling it like its a glassfiber bow!:D

and ofcourse i tapered it with my bench plane as well

mullet:
Very Fine looking bow, and a pretty impressive accomplishment. Did you build it from a kit, board or stave? How did you make the horn nocks?

youngbowyer:
I made the bow from a stave that i purchased from crowshead outfitters. I just used a draw knife a bench plane and a scraper(a steel ruler actaully) I am very happy with the poundage also I was cheap and bought the horn nocks from the longbowshop along with my arrowmaking supllies ;D

Thanks for all your kind comments

mullet:
Where is there a longbow shop in N.J.? Do they ship?
