when to cut wood for bows

Hi I'm new to primitive archery and was wondering when the best time cut wood for a bow would be. i plan on cutting eather white ash or hickory and would like to get started as soon as possable.

I like to cut white wood when the leave are out. Once that happens the bark will slip, making it easy to remove.
  Except for the bark slipping, you can cut bow wood at any time of year.

Like Pat said. Bark removal is generally easier in the whitewoods when sap levels are higher.If you need it, cut anytime.

well most of the staves i have someone else has already cut  for me.
i dont have access to tress to cut,but when somebody is willing to let me cut
one from their property i dont care what time of year or day or night it is
i go cut it ;D
as i am happy as a lark when i can go get my own.i dont mind trading ar buying when needed
but have found a great, long lost love of cutting a tree down.
