Stone tool arrow
« on: July 27, 2009, 06:15:21 pm »
Just got back from a vacation and gathered all the materials except the point from around a lake that we were by. Shaft(vine maple),goose feathers and some horse hair for binding. Shaft, and knocks all cut and scraped with stone. The point I napped out of some obsidian that I had taken along.  Here are the results. Shoots sweet

Wow, very nice arrow.  After crafting something like you, you must really feel a sense of accomplishment.  I know I would.

Thanks David, still having some back problems but at least I'm up and walking ;D

Thank you again everyone, it was only one arrow but it dose make you apreciate them all the more. As well as respecting people would do the all stone bows like Jamie.

Jamie are you back to civialztion?

Congrats Keenan on a cool arrow, just got to love those stone tool bows and arrows. More folks should try them as they are do able and a real sense of accomplish ment for any one, I hope to make more when the summer winds down. Are you up to shooting light bows yet? Ease into it and don't over do.  Again a really nice arrow.

Cool arrow Keenan. Is the shaft VM shoot or split out and shaped?

Really awsome looking arrow. In particular the stone tip. I'm not to that stage of accomplishment yet, but looking at yours gives me incentive to keep trying. Thanks again

The one question I have is:  How the hell do you find vine maple that straight?????????  The vine maple I've seen is about as straight as a steering wheel!!!
