Staining POC

(1/2) > >>

zeNBowyer:
I  have  been  trying to  stain  some POC  shafts  for  several weeks  now,  with  poor results, I tried sanding  off what  looks  like  a small coating of a  clear  coat  which  I   imagine  the manufacturers put  on  to  weatherize  the  shafts during  storage  and  shipment,  also  tried  using a  stain  prep  to  help  the  wood  absorb  the  stain- still  with poor results,
yet  the web  searches  I get  say POC takes  stain  well, what the  deal  here???

Pat B:
I haven't bought POC for a few years but I never had a problem staining them. You might contact who you purchased them from for suggestions.
Another option would be to use paint instead of stain. It goes on top and not into the wood. I have had good results with spray on Krylon paints and they come in many colors.

Sounds like  someone sealed them prior to you getting them   I have never had a problem staining POC  for 30 years .  Just stained some the other night   they were fine .

zeNBowyer:
I  sanded them  but the laquer  must  have  penetrated deeper  into  the  wood,  that  must  be  it,  thanx:)

Pat B:
Did you get them from an individual or a company?
