Okie1's BBO R/D Bow gets December Laminate Bow of the Month
« on: January 06, 2010, 05:54:24 PM »
John Holman of Luther,Oklahoma Made a Superior Reflex/Deflex Bamboo backed Bow on a Unique Form
for His December 2009 Laminate Entry for Bow of the Month

http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,16623.0.html
Here's my first bow off my new form. It's 64" and pulls 50#@28". Osage backed with Bamboo with Sapele accents. This thang shoots hard and is dead quite too. I gave it a light coat of red mahogony stain and sealed her up with poly. Let me know what ya think. ... and it's all wood!
I used 2 pieces of 1/2" plywood and 2 pieces of 1/4". It's 70" long and 1 1/4" wide. I use a long bungie cord to strap the bow in the form and the holes are for my clamps to pull it into the deflex/reflex until I can get her all wrapped up. I wrap the limbs in innertube before strapping it to the form. I wish I had taken pics of this bow while in the form... but I didn't. I'll try to remember to take pics when I glue up my next one.
Not only did folks like the bow but they really like the form!!
- "Wow nice bow there Okie!  Tiller and finish work are outstanding!"  josh
- "Beautiful work.  It's got a nice comfortable look to it.  Great job!"   Parnell
- "Very nice bow!  That's one to be proud of." brownhillboy
- "Okie, that bow is truly beautiful.  It's so graceful and scream power.  Oh, the form is a work of art, also.  Class act all the way around." hedgeapple

I believe the number of votes you got is one of the highest I have seen. For sure in the lam compartment.
