I’m getting behind here pappy.

Between harvest and how slow the site has been I have had a hard time keeping up.

Congratulations on the doe. And finding your friends.

I use about the same ratio of pork buts to venison as you. Seems just right to me. Makes really good burgers too

Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend

Couple of fellers stayed at our hotel while deer hunting and offered me the shoulders and hams from a small whitetail buck they had shot. I was in a pinch for time, so I wasn't particularly meticulous about getting every scrap off the bones and still came up with a nice batch of meat for the grind along with a couple of roasts to put down in the corning brine.

Summer and fall was a long haul for me as I have been going over accounts and tallying up the numbers. I decided that I intend to keep on living after I got a look at the price of funerals and all that foo-furraw. Per doctors' strong suggestion I have joined a fitness center that will be working with me on a specific diet and exercise program tailored to my situation and condition. I've got 12 weeks to do all I can to lose fat, gain muscle, and improve my conditioning.

Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Good luck and courage to you, JW.  As a slightly-older-than-I-used-to-be guy, I find that I enjoy being in shape, but getting in shape is no fun, just a whole lot of work.  See it through and it will be worth it.  And yeah, probably cheaper than a funeral.

I hear ya BJ, fall and early winter are busy time for me also. Hang in there JW, getting and trying to keep yourself in shape is tough but well worth it in the long haul, I stay pretty active and feel very Blessed to still be able to do most anything I want, just do it at a little slower pace now. Great weekend, got in some hunting, seen lots of deer and Turkey, had my chance at a really nice 10 point at 12 yards  ??? the thing I didn't see was a small beach limb between me and him and of course I hit it and shot right over his back, good news is he never knew what happened and just wandered off after the shot, who knows maybe next time, Miss Joanie said "just wasn't his day to go " she says that a lot to me.  ;) :) :) Got my 2 deer all worked up and another hide in the rack. Also as I was coming out of the woods I winded something dead, I just followed my nose and low and behold I found Eddie's buck he shot while here a few weeks back, it was about 300 yards from where we stopped looking. Nice 9 point, I got the rack to give him next time I see him. :) :) Eddie's rack and Shawn working on a hide.  :)

Eddie's is the top rack and scored 94 inches.  :) My hide in the rack along with 4 more, I need to get busy scrapping, this is supposed to be a prefect week for that. Annie still loving deer season in Tennessee. :) :)

Got really cold so my girls spent a peaceful evening by the fire, Sister and Annie are really getting close now, that makes me very happy that Sister has got a good friend again, I miss Sally a lot but Annie is filling the gap pretty good now. :) Our Preacher always smokes a bunch of Boston
Butts for Thanksgiving and gives them out , he gave me one and I took it to the cabin to share with all my buddies Saturday, I had just enough left  along with some of Dave's taters for a fine supper. Hope yall had a good one also. Life is Good. :) :)
