A good pipe

huntertrapper:
awesome man. and no stuff just tobacco? haha  :D and good luck with your pipe badger

stickbender:

Badger, when you say pepper tree, do you mean the Brazilian pepper tree?  I hope not.  That is not a wood you want to make a pipe out of.  Might, could be a bit toxic. :o  I know the sap is not friendly, and I wouldn't eat the peppers, although they do look like the same kind I have seen in stores.  Maybe Hillbilly can elucidate a bit more...... ;D

stickbender:

Badger, how about an old driver golf club head, that is not laminated? ;)

Badger:
I believe it is a brazilian pepper tree. The burl is interesting does not seem to have any visible growth rings are grain almost looks like monolithic plastic. No character at all.
I know persimmon was used for golf clubs and also produces some nice burl with a lot of character if you can find it.

hedgeapple:
Jackcrafty, nice looking pipe.  I think I'm going to start looking for burls.  I have one on a ironwood stave I just split.  I'm not sure if the grain and texture will show up well one such a white wood.  Also, I saved a cedar burl last year.  But, cedar might just catch on fire while I'm smoking it.  haha
