That's not too much fun for me. I like hearing them gobble on the roost, fly down, gobble on the ground. Then call them in as close as I can and turn their head into a sponge. If I have to rely on ambushing to get a bird, I'll just shoot one off the roost with a 22.

But there is all different styles of hunting the birds. Where I hunted in Texas, they shot them long range with rifles.

Eddie,i am like you on turkey hunting
love that gobble on the roost, the fly down, the calling, the strutting
the pounding of a load of #4 shot into their heads  >:D

the cow decoy wouldnt work where i hunt
for some reason the easterns we have will tolerate cattle near a barn
but out in the fields etc. and they shy away from the cattle
i always wanted a harley, untill it became the "thing to ride"
i ride because i love to,not to be part of the crowd

I've never killed one from behind "Bessie", but I've guided several friends with her.
I like calling 'em in and killin' 'em myself.  That's all the fun in turkey hunting.

You can only hunt spring turkey in the morning here, and the bird has to be called in..... Evenings would be easy I know where they always roost.....

Can't hunt after 1pm here on Mngt. Land. But you can hunt all day on private property.

Because of this law, no turkey should be worried about my arrows. They all roost here and fly, down the hill, across the road. Don't have a chance to shoot them. Once they land, they're then berrated by every idiot who has $15 for a call and then the shotguns start going off. Last year my brother and I walked down to the bus, thought a car backfired- turns out someone shot a bird right across the road (shooting towards us).

I'd have more fun hunting crows... or ants. No one shoots at you when you're chasing ants :(

well i may have to deal wit ha stupid ass lottey for turkey season
however we do get to hunt from (legaly) a hlaf hour before sunup to half hour after sundown
we can stalk if we want(not my method, too many idiots out there),call them in or whatever
our laws dont say you cant shoot of the roost, but i think its wrong.its like shooting ducks on the pond

calling them and getting them to commit and come in range
now thats turkey hunting, the gobbling, the strutting, the fighting, the purring, its all good
i always wanted a harley, untill it became the "thing to ride"
