Padauk

hey my dad bought some wood called padauk it is pretty tough and has a tight grain.i did some looking around and could not find anything on it. here are some scrapes of what is left. :'( my dad already cut it up but i can get more. the last pic is a dresser door that my dad is building for me ;D.

the paduak that i have is much more red in color
dont know if it is a good choice for bows or not,but makes nice looking knife handles

From what I've read it should make a decent bow wood from the Specific Gravity and Janka hardness perspective.  I've used it for lots of other woodworking projects.  Wear a mask if you work with it; the dust is a known toxin.  Also "throwaway" clothes.  The dust gets in everything and makes it red!  Padauk is also known as Vermillion.

I've used it for tip overlays and accent strips in bow risers. It's a nice looking wood.
