Copperhead And Osage Bow
« on: July 31, 2010, 03:05:17 pm »
Hello everyone, here is a bow that I just finished up. It is osage, 60 inches long and pulling 50lb at 26 inches. I had this stave for about five years so it was really ready to be a bow and it shoots really fast. I had these two copperheads from last summer, they are the first copperheads I've put on a bow and I really like them a lot. I also stained this bow and I think it turned out pretty well, kind of matches the skins. The tip overlays are cow horn and the grip is linen thread. For the finish I coated the bow with polyurethane and when that was dry I then misted on a coat of spray satin poly as PatB has recommended before and I was very pleased with the results. It gave a very nice looking and non shiny finish. Here are some pics.

Thanks Pat! Those skins don't match as well as yours on that guava bow but I still like the look of them a lot.

BOM!  BOM!  BOM!

That is a really sharp looking bow.  I think copperhead/osage has to be a favorite combo of mine, never mind that I haven't made anything of either yet.  I really like the look though.  Nice work!
