Pat B:
JD, you could add to keenan's book on perparing sturgeon skins with a chapter on power washing. ;D     Pat

duffontap:
Pat, It was Bryan's idea to power wash the skins.  I wouldn't have thought of that I don't think.

white wood:
thanks guys! i should have said tho that they were dry. the set i have dont have enough on the top to use but do on the bottom. thats the reason i asked bout using the middle. then i could have some of the light colored bottom and dark top and the scales in the middle. can i cut of sand/grind the middle scales down to make the skin more usable? thanks, -jesse

Keenan:
Jesse,  If they are already dried I would just use them the way they are. I have seen several done with the center scales left on. Even the bigest of those type scales aren't long enough to be to stiff and they are fairly light so I doubt it would add noticeable mass.  It also gives a very prehistoric look to the bow.   Good luck with it and please keep us posted.    Keenan
