alternative for thumbring

 Will, have you seen the wooden release from the 60's. Just a short piece of wood with a notch on one side with a double leather strap around the string. It was held with you thumb?

All good ideas. Interested in an alternative for short bows and have a chinese bow on the drawing board, all wood no horn.I would like to use something other than the thumbring.

Mullet, no, haven't seen such AFAIK --- haven't formally studied releases, just happened to've read those pages recently so remembered them.

i like that leather thing!  ive made a few thumb rings out of pvc piping.  i just dont think they are made properly.  or my fingers are funny.  the are suppose to be oval for when you slip them on, and then twisting them, they get tight, but only one of mine do.  then im not sure im holding the string in the right spot either..

is there a demonstration video for that brass release?  i am very intrigued with that particular style.
