i hear ya about the $$! i think it runs a nonresident ~$650 for an elk tag. it's cheap for residents, though.

i live in Big Sky, population 1500, elevation 7550, just off the northwest corner of Yellowstone National Park. i can be hunting elk in less than 30 minutes from my door- 45 minutes if i don't wanna drive. that's a luxury that i truly appreciate! it's also not such a bad place to be stuck for the winter if you like to ski  ;)
