First try at making a quiver

I have been wanting to make a quiver for a while.  Recently I traded for a full deer hide with the fur on it.  But when I got it, I just couldn't bring myself to cutting it up.  It just looked amazing.  I think I will hang it up on the wall in the garage instead.  So, I have been looking for something else to use.  Last week I spent the day shopping with the wife and found myself in a large fabric store.  I started to wonder around and I ended up finding some genuine immitation emu skin.  I got a small piece of it to use for handle wraps.  Once I got home, I started looking at it and thought it would make a cool quiver, so I went back and bought a larger piece.  I had my mom help me sew it up.  She is a retired seamstress.  I wasn't sure where to attach the straps, or how long they should be, we just kind of guessed.  I think it turned out OK.  I have enough of it left to make a couple more, so if you have any suggestions for improvements, fire away.  I need to cut a thick piece of leather to put in the bottom of it.

Already thought of that.  Should make a nice set with a handle wrap too.

Nice looking arrow sock! :)

I know it is not ABO or even primitive but you might look around for a heavy plastic bottle to form the bottom of the quiver. Still put a piece in the bottom but a plastic cup will also help hold the bottom of the quiver open.

Check out the QITH that is forming.  ;)

Thanks, I checked the QITH thread, but I don't want to sign up for it.  I would be cheating someone.  I bought the material and it took my mom all of 30 minutes to sew it up.  I am sure everyone else will have a lot more time and work in their quiver.  I just wouldn't feel right about it.

I dont think you would cheat anyone it takes me a afternoon to sew up a plains style quiver. now if you were making a basket or boo one then yes that could take awhile pluss you can add bags or knife to It to take up time. Some fun noodle in the bottom works well also . I think you should join the Qith that looks realy good jmo ttyl

I bei it does a fine job toting your arrows, and looks cool to boot!  ;D
