gar in cold weather?

Anyone ever back a bow with Gar skins? Also if someone catches a big one, I sure would like the head for my classroom. Oh, and what's the most effective manner to catch Gar?

Gar skins would be a bit thick and stiff to back a bow with-they pretty much resemble a sheet of tin. As for catching them, this way is the most fun, for sure:
