My wife lost her job today

I guess the budget crisis has hit close to home. I teach first grade and she teaches Kindergarten one hall over. It's her first year with the district and most new year teachers were let go today. She might have a job next year if she takes and passes a test to teach another subject area..

Life is not fair, but we are still blessed beyond what we deserve and we continue to be thankful for what we are given each day.

I'm sorry to hear that.  Hopefully something better is out there for her.  Your positive attitude is refreshing.

Man I know how you feel, my wife is a reading specialist and this is her first year too. I think if she wasn't getting her masters she would never have been able to get the job she has. It's an experimental position at the school shes at, so who knows what will happen next year. It sounds like you have the right frame of mind though, just count your blessings and hopefully you will see another door open.

My daughter in law is a third grade teacher, she has been there 6 years and is tenured, the bad thing is when they do let teachers go,they put the extra load on everyone else. Its insane to cut education, what happens to those kids that dont get enough teaching? Sorry for the loss

 >:( I see so many good folks losing their jobs. I am so sorry to hear that. I got laid off 2 years ago and it just plain sucks! I got laid off 2 years ago and understand how frustrating it is and how powerless I felt. Tell her to hang in there and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers!--Josh
