Ironwood bow finished

Well I finally got the Ironwood finished.  It turned out pretty good.  It shoots better then I dreamed it would.

64" Tip to tip, 62" NtN,  48# @ 27" 

The handle is tanned elk hide from a friend who gave me some pieces long ago.  Tips are whitetail horn.

Very nice! what species of iron wood is this? dont look like it took any set at all. nice job!

It's HHB from Pappy's farm.  He told me when we were looking for my next bow that the piece of wood we selected was prime and he was right.  The bow has less hand shock then any I own to include my glass longbows (Widow, Fox, and Martin)  It also was trouble free in the building which for me is rare.  I always seem to do something that  throws a wrench in the building process.  However this one just flowed along with no trouble what so ever.

I think I'll get with my friend GregB and see if I can get him to do a leather grip for me with a trade of some sort.  His leather working is artistic and I'd really like to shot this bow a lot, and even hunt with it this next season.

Thanks everyone for the nice replies.  As a young bow builder it means a lot to have folks think what work you've done is not to bad. 

Looking forward to see all who can make it at the Tennessee Classic.  Ya'll who make it can try this bow out and let me have your opinion then if you would.   :)

Looks good to me!
The braceheight appears pretty high in that first pic. What's the braceheight there, measured from the back of the bow?

John, the bow is awesome and I love the tiller. I am a bit concerned that your brace height is a bit high though. I brace my bows at the lowest height at which I get good arrow flight. String to back. Usually 7-7.25 in. Jawge

That is always a great feeling when bows behave like that :D

Looks really good and from the sound of it, I bet this will be a bow that you find yourself gravitating towards when you reach for a bow to shoot some arrows. Nicely done.
