mini speed boats. anybody ever had one?
« on: March 10, 2011, 03:27:15 pm »
mini speed boats. little 9ish foot speed boats with anywhere from a 25 to 55 horse motor on it. tiny, extreamly fast, and just plain cool. ive never seen one on the watter but i saw them on youtube and man i want one. i know some of you guys live near the watter, wondering if anyone has ever had the chance to paly with one. completely useless as far as fishing or anything, but seems like it would be awsome to scout new watter real quick like and just fun to go run for a day. look em up if ya never seen one, they just look fun. but looks like you could kill yourself quite easily in one lol.
lets just shoot it

I used to own an 11' Boston Whaler with a 15 hp Johnson on it. It ran pretty good.   When I was a boat mechanic on Hilton Head Is. SC we rigged a 16' Boston Whaler with a 175hp Johnson. I believe this boat was to be used to run contraband.  ::) Every boat hull has a max hull speed no matter how much hp you push it with. That whaler would run a little over 60mph but by todays standards that isn't all that fast. I went to Johnson/Evanrude OB school with a guy from Columbia SC that had a bass boat that would run over 100mph. When aske why, he said to help set the hook!  :D

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Dad and I built one when I was a Kid...from Plans from Popular Mechanics....built out of 1/4" Plywood...and Basswood (i believe)...then fiberglassed.....I think mine had a Sears 20 hp motor...looked like a Hammerhead Shark...but skipped across the water like a Jet Boat!

hell I just googled it....and I'll be damned if I didn't find the kit...man this Internet is badassed!!!!
