Black locust 60# 28"
« on: June 25, 2011, 01:37:05 pm »
Black locust longbow, 72 ntn, 60# at 28", 2/3" set after shooting-in. It has good cast, 150 metres average with 11 gpp bad fletched arrow. Deep narrow profile, 30 x 25 mm at handle,22 x 19mm midlimb, no crysals. Tips are 6 mm and 10 mm wide. This was rest of some splitted thiny-sapwood bl. Tiler should be little better but I didn't have enough wood for that, because I aimed to at least 60#. This type of black locust seems to be more tolerant to compresion damages but it is easier to bend than ordinary bl. It was not heat treated. Tapering directly from handle to tips.

Excellent black locust bow!  8)  You are not supposed to be able to build a locust bow like that!  ::)  I guess another wives tale has been shattered.  :D  Very nice bow and beautiful full draw.

Love it Druid, the patterns are cool and the full draw is killer.

Awesome bow Druid! The bow reminds me of that phrase "red on black you're ok jack, if red touches yellow you're a dead fellow!" haha.  I've wanted to work with BL for a while but havent had a chance.

Thank you people very much.
Black locust bows could be very heavy in any profile. Soon I am prepairing warbow serial of bows where I will hit 120+#  draw weights with different woods (elm, hornbeam, cherry, ash...) in narrow and deep designs so we can compare its abilities.

The "narrow and deep" is in my humble opinion the most elegant of bow designs and you hit it right on the button. My compliments.
