A heartbreaker
« on: June 26, 2011, 07:32:29 pm »
I went to our bi-weekly 3-D shoot, took the grandson and shot my new, favorite bow, getting ready for the hog hunt in July. I shot this bow there 2 weeks ago, 40 targets and a bunch of practice ramge, along with a lot of shooting at the house.

Well, after lunch we were shooting the second round and on target #4, KABLAAM! The upper limb landed 20' away and the rest smacked me on the cheek. All I could think of at that moment was, "This sucks!" There is a small pin knot and a swirl in the wood where it let go. The only thing I can think of is the heat or humidity changed, and it did, and the wood didn't like it.

That's a bummer :'(, but at least it died in action rather than having a truck reverse over it or a lumbering fool overdraw it to show how tough he is.
Still, on the plus side it's an excuse to make another ;D

Hate it when that happens, and that one was a beauty.

Hillbilly, yea, had my old stand by, sinew backed osage.
Del, what I hated the most was I didn't make this one, It was a gift from Ryan O'Sullivan at the Tenn. Classic this year. Damn, it sure shot sweet!

That is a major bummer Eddie. :(  Seen that one at the Classic as well and it sure looked like an awesome bow.  Ryan poured allot of hert into making that one for ya.  Such is the way of the bow. :(

That is a shame, but it happens.I've shot them until I just knew they would never bust, and then? It happens.

What kind of wood was that Mullet?

That's a shame.  It could have been worse, one of those sharp chunks could have hit you pointy end first.  Glad you got out of it without injury.  Bill
