That's what happened to me. When she did turn her head, I started to draw and she heard my arm brush up against my side as I drew and it scared her enoughto jump out of my shooting lane.

Ya that happened to me twice also, bummer.  I don't have any answer for sound I have not figured that out yet.  I just find it easier to draw when there is a little noise in the woods like early fall when the nuts are falling.

Thanks I had a great season and in Iowa it will be over on Tuesday. I find it more difficult to hunt in Jan than Oct so I only hunt when it is warmer.  Next year I am going to add addition primative gear to the challege by making some period clothing.

Congrats on the fine trophy.  Do you by chance know the grain weight of your arrow? And the speed of your bow?
Was it a complete pass-thru, the arrow laying on the ground or was the shaft still in the deer but the point was sticking out?

Thanks, it was a great day! The fps was 146,  53#25" 500 grain total all up including the point.  The wt of the point was 100 grains. It did not land on the ground on the otherside but was in the deer with about 4 inches sticking out. If shoot a deer at ten yards I am sure it would have passed all the way through. The deer was at 20 yards and I was 12 feet up in a tree stand. After i saw what the arrowhead did I would not change a thing. The trick in my opinion is to have very sharp arrowheads that are well made.

Gratz on a great season.  Yes size does not matter.  Only we know the work and effort that went into our accomplishments.  I hunted for about 100 hours my first year hunting (with a gun) and didn't get a deer until almost the last day of extended season.  It was a tiny doe but meant more than a 6x6 elk to me.  I suspect the first with my selfbow may mean even more.  Thanks for sharing!
