Missed a Doe!
« on: November 07, 2011, 05:50:49 pm »
Well the rut has started here on the east coast. Saw about 7 deer today while sitting in the stand for about 3 hours. A nice 4 ptr came in and i was lined up for a perfect shot. However, we can't shoot 4 ptrs here, they have to have at least 3 points one one side >:( After that buck disappeared into the swamp 3 does came in. they headed for my corn and i slowly stood up. I drew back my bow, anchored, and released. The Doe crouched and i missed her by a centimeter. Saw many more deer after that and even saw a buck chasing a doe, no shots though. Well i have passed the first 2 stages of hunting, now im ready for phase 3 which is to kill a deer. Happy hunting everybody!
The first time i held my bow, it felt right, like it was made for me

Keep at it...your time will come.  A shot is a good thing and much better to miss clean than to wound one and not find it.
Happy hunting to all!

Never give up.  I killed my fist deer on shot 28.  I hope it does not take as long for you.  I just hunted too long with a compound and had a lot of things to forget.
