i probably should mention that this was from a shoot of unknown species, but i tried to break on before and before it lifted a splinter, it was around a 90 degree angel

Especially with heavy bows it could be risky reusing that arrow. However you could remove the bad end and add a footing to make up for the damaged area. Its a lot of work but it should work...if it is worth fixing at all. Make another one.

Id like to know what plant/tree your using.  7ft tall with only 3/4 base is pretty nice.  good for atlatl darts too

I've repaired arrows trying to save their length and tend to worry about shooting them until they break a second time, then I'm done.  I DON'T recommend it, though.  Where that one looks broke I'd cut it off above the lower wrap and renock it.  If length is a problem and you like the shoot enough, make it a short draw arrrow.  Maybe a big leather blunt so there is no mistaking it when you go to draw it.  Post a pic of some of your other arrows made from the same plant for ID. dpg
Also, good shootin'!! Some times you gotta make sacrifices...sometimes you gotta make more targets.  ;)

i actually just swapped the head onto another one of the shoots, realized the chance of the back half of an arrow driven into my hand wasn't worth saving that much wood, once i get it fletched ill post some pictures along with the 6 birch warbow arrows i'm finishing up.
thanks

NO! :o

Trust me it is not worth it.  Toss that shaft in the trash.
