Short osage Recurve
« on: August 05, 2007, 06:41:32 pm »
Hi everyone
Here's a short Osage recurve I just finished. It's 58 inches long NTN and 42# @ 26".
It's 1-3/4" inches wide for about 2/3 the length of the limbs and then tapers to 1/2" tips.
The bottom limb has a worm hole all the way through it at one point but it seems to be holding up.
It has a pair of snake skins glued on to dress it up. Shoots around 148FPS through the chrono.
Had my friend draw it so I could take the picture. It shoots right where you point it. ;D

Nice looking bow.  That little grub hole would have scared me away.  Justin

Congratulations, nice bow. I have a Maple bow I had been working on that has quite a few grub holes like that. It is sitting in the corner of my shop now. Glad to see yours made it, I don't think mine will.

Really nice looking bow Sabanim. What kind of snake skins are those?

Thanks Everyone

Yeap...gotta love the yellow wood!!! It's amazing stuff!

Alan...the skins are off a couple rattlesnakes that I killed here in Alabama last year.

I am always more impressed the shorter the bow. Quite the challenge - this one is a beauty.
I'd love to use it on all the whitetails in my flower gardens.  Got your fine bow set up for August Self Bow of the Month.

Hey Guys
Thanks for the compliments Pappy. I was pretty happy with the performance.
I didn't think it would shoot as fast as it did. I've been on a roll lately with some good shooters.

I'll try to take a unstrung side profile picture and post it tomorrow Finnish native
I'm at work right now so it will have to wait till then.
Thanks again
Bill
