Choctaw Style bow (pics)
« on: February 08, 2012, 02:21:06 pm »
Hey Folks its great to post here again. Ive been making lots of bows but sometimes I get lazy with the pics. I really really enjoyed making this bow so I took some nice pictures and edited it. The bow is a reproduction from the bow in the Grayson collection and is classified as Choctaw. I did the length and with just like the original, i treid to get the nocks the same and even the paint job. The stave was an osage orange stave that had a slight reflex and I got from Matt Wiriwiki. THANKS MATT! the bow is sealed with rendered bear fat and the string is a reverse twist sinew string from deer backstrap :) the bow is 50lbs @ 26 inches. I absolutely loved how smooth it is and how fast it shoots. On the pic it looks like the top limb needs to bend slightly more at the fade, but I think it may be the camera angle  bcause in the mirror ir looks good, lol.

any way here are the pics
