a black locust selfbow
snedeker:
slightly outcurved tips. 63", 58#/27", 1 & 7/16 inch wide to taper. Heated in tip curve and some reflex, worked in at about an inch of reflex. Brown osgae tip overlays. Stave had big knot on back I was able to design into handle area and flatten off. Had 3 knots on belly side that peetered out just into the belly of the bow. They add an interesting swirl pattern to the belly, all on upper limb. they had no effect. Tree felled by ice. 01/05.
Actually has a little r/d thing going on doesn't it

63", is that sort or regular for a locust bow with a 27" draw? I need a 29" draw, so i am guessing I need 66 or 68" on mine? If you can show the whole bow profile at the handle (both limbs on either side of the handle) that would help me as I work mine. I hope mine can come out half as fine.
