Bob, I'm learning more every day. Looks like some are snaped on the end to give it the flat base and others flaked across the base to flatten. I suspect if snapped they would have been notched after, so I think notching is last.  Not sure when I will get to try make one of these but hopefully soon. Any other ideads in how it is done?

Wow Scott, didn't waste time!  Looks like a beauty.  I hope to start on one today.  Really interesting about the base.

That's a pretty cool point Zuma. For some reason it took me a while to notice the resemblance to your beads but once I did I jumped right out at me. Nice work like how you kept the stars and strip on there.
