Marc St. Louis's (of Corbeil, Ontario) Bamboo Backed Santos Rosewood
is August Backed Bow of the Month
[/size]
From Marc: This is a D/R Bamboo backed Santos Rosewood bow I recently made. The bow is 62" N to N with 1 1/8" wide limbs that taper to 1/4" nocks, the limbs have a slight D section to them. It pulls 55# @ 28" and even though I haven't chronographed the bow I can tell from shooting it that it's fast. I glued in about 1 1/2" of reflex and it holds about 1/2" after shooting it several times. You can see from the picture of the limbs that the Rosewood has a very attractive grain to it. t's a very oily wood and does not seem to be bothered by moisture. The overlays are Buff horn The riser is built up of White Ash, Bubinga then Rosewood.
I'll most likely use this bow for hunting this Fall, unless I sell it first
