Elderberry as warbow wood

I've just cut a little elderberry tree, 4" at the base, and I'd like to make my first warbow out of it (my target is around 100#@32"). The stave is 80" long and pretty straight, there are a few knots but I think I can avoid most of them planning the profile well.

It's pretty rare to find a straight piece of elder so long and I'd hate to ruin it, so I thought of asking here what do you think of this wood as a warbow one. I've already made a bow with a shorter peice in the past, a 40# target flatbow, and I've found it an excellent wood, light but strong, with a good response to belly-toasting. I think that using the whole stave I could make it, but I'd like to hear your opinion anyway!

Never used it myself but I have seen a few bows made from it, in general its superb, capable of easily going to the weight you want. Getting a piece 80" straight is indeed rare so be careful with it and you'll end up with a very good bow.

I'm moving this month, so I will not be able to work on the stave (except maybe some coarse work with the hatchet) till September. I hope to be able to show some good results and pics in a month or so, I know how much the community loves new bow-porn, I love it myself!
