A couple of Pat's
« on: September 28, 2007, 05:14:43 AM »
Didn't get em with abow but thought I would post anyway. Single shot 12 ga, shoot both on the wing from the same flush, shot the first one then had to reload and got the second one ;D Having a pretty good small game season so far. Deer opens Monday. Also saw a big ass buck cross the road in front of me which was pretty cool.

Hey Dana, what is a Pat? is it a grouse? Look like some kind of cross between turkey and pheasant. Purty birds though :).
When you come upon a track or trail you do not know, follow it to the point of knowing.

Cowboy a Pat is a Ruffed Grouse or a Partridge, Pat is what all the old timers call em up here.
Seem to be good numbers this year ;D

Good shootin'. There haven't been hardly any grouse around here the last couple years, used to be you couldn't walk a hundred yards through the woods without flushing one.

I've been seeing alot of birds but only have 3 kills so far out of about 25 shots. ::) It will get better when the leaves drop and the ferns flatten out.

DanaM, only hunted them in the 50's and 60's with shotgun in Conn. My uncles and I never missed a day to go get them. My uncle Leo used to say hunting them was like hunting Communists, slow and easy and shoot fast. >:D  You got a nice pair.
