Sapelle?
« on: October 10, 2007, 06:48:00 pm »
Anyone used Sapelle to make bows out of? I'm making laminated longbows from backings of Hickory a lam of satinwood and a belly wood. I found a bunch of this wood for a good price and bought it up. Anyone used it before or have ideas about it?

David when I read your post I Googled Sapelle since Ive never heard of it. The first link it gave said it was in the Mahogany family, and had simaler propertys to Oak. I bought an oak 1x2 to make a bow out of and it was a tough wood to cut on with had tools. Good Luck Joel

Thanks Joel! I dont think it will be that difficult though. If it gives me trouble I will bust out the files.
